3D Reverse Engineering : performa RE3D vs ClearEdge3D

performa RE3D is script-based Revit add-on BIM solution.  It can automatically interwork with FM system generating 3D objects and their property information from point cloud data through 3D Reverse Engineering Processing. This posting is to show the process of performa RE3D and the result from the comparison with other reverse engineering solutions such as ClearEdge3D.    

The Reverse Engineering process of performa RE3D is as follows: 

• Collect point cloud data from existing property by laser scanning or cameras (drones can be used). 

• Input the point cloud data 

• Filter the point cloud data as user puts the rule-based scripts to extract BIM objects.

• Segmentation 

• Extract cylinders 

• Visualize MEP pipes in 3D through performa RE3D viewer
